Ryan Healy (9-2-1) vs. Jorge Masvidal (12-2)

R1- They point out that Healy has the height advantage in this one. Ken Shamrock point out during commentary that he has trained with Healy. Healy pushes the pace early and is the aggressor. Masvidal gets a take down but no damage is done. Healy takes down Masvidal with a knee and then strikes him and Masvidal is on the ground and they sprawl until Healy has him in a guillotine but Masvidal takes Healy and dumps him onto the ground. They are back to their feet and Healy has Masvidal up against the cage and getting in some shots and then Healy takes him down to the mat. Masvidal gains an advantage with a take down and is really hitting Healy with shots but Healy toughs it out and then takes down Masvidal. Very back and forth fight with both guys really giving it their all. They put over that this is Healy’s first fight since he blew out his ACL. Masvidal has an advantage with one minute left in the round as he is in Healy’s guard and is hitting Healy with some punches. The ref stands them up. This was a very even round. Healy controlled early and then Masvidal won the second part of the round. Judges could have scored this either way. The round probably went to Masvidal.

R2- Masvidal hits a nice combo to start off the second round. Healy has some blood on the bridge of his nose. Masvidal takes Healy down. Matt Lindland is in Healy’s corner. Masvidal is really controlling the first part of this round. They are stood up and Healy takes down Masvidal by falling into his guard. Masvidal looks to have grabbed an arm bar but losses it. They end the round with Masvidal at the advantage. Masvidal won this round. I’ve got it 20-18 in favor of Masvidal but could definitely see a judge giving Healy round one and scoring the fight 19-19 so far. Both guys (especially Healy) looked a little winded in this round and the action really died down.

R3- Healy has Masvidal up against the cage and gets a couple of shots in before he gets clinched. Masvidal takes Healy down. Healy’s cut is opened up and the doctor is going to take a look at it. They continue with Masvidal back on top and he’s landing some punches as Healy is trying to defend. The ref stands the fighters up. Masvidal takes down Healy again. They stand back up. Masvidal hits a knee. Masvidal gets another take down. Unspectacular but solid third round by Masvidal. Masvidal definitely takes this fight, probably 30-27. All three judges score the fight 30-27.

Winner: Jorge Masvidal by Decision (Unanimous)

This was a decent fight. But not really worthy of being the only fight featured on a 30 minute show.
